Academics

At Southwest Middle School, students have exciting opportunities to learn, explore and succeed. We offer a well-rounded academic program that helps every student discover their strengths and prepare for the future.

High School Credit Courses
Students can get a head start on high school by taking Math I for high school credit.

Arts Programs
Our arts programs inspire creativity and talent. Students can take part in:

• Visual arts
• Band
• Chorus

Career and Technical Education (CTE)
Through Paxton/Patterson Labs, students will have the chance to take part in hands-on learning across 12 different modules. The courses were chosen based on student interests and focus on building skills that will support success in high school. These courses also help students explore future careers and develop real-world skills.

Gifted Education
We provide additional advanced learning opportunities for students identified as academically and intellectually gifted (AIG).

Academic Clubs
Students can challenge themselves and build skills in clubs such as:

• Battle of the Books
• Robotics
